Hoses for milk and dairy plants

In a dairy, hoses carry milk from the collection tanker to the reception tanks, between tanks and process lines, and to filling. The hose has to be food quality, keep its shape on suction, resist the fat in milk and withstand the plant’s cleaning. Here is how to choose it.

Suction or delivery only

Where a pump draws milk through the hose, for example when a tanker is unloaded or loaded, the hose works under vacuum: DELFOOD MILK 10 SD has a steel helix and is rated for vacuum up to 0.9 bar, ID 19–102 mm. Where the hose only works under pressure, DELFOOD MILK 10 D is enough: it has no helix, ID 19–102 mm. Both work at up to 10 bar and from −40 to +80 °C.

For daily milk collection there is DELFOOD TANKER 10 SD, a very flexible, highly abrasion resistant suction and delivery hose for milk collection tankers, ID 51–102 mm. Where a light hose is needed, DELFOOD MILK 10 SD LITE is very light and crush resistant, ID 38–102 mm. Both also work at up to 10 bar and from −40 to +80 °C.

The inner tube

Milk contains fat, and DELFOOD MILK 10 SD and DELFOOD MILK 10 D are made for milk, dairy products and other fatty foods. The inner tube is white, smooth NBR rubber of food quality, odourless and tasteless; DELFOOD TANKER 10 SD has the same inner tube, DELFOOD MILK 10 SD LITE a white, smooth natural rubber one of food quality.

Cleaning and sterilization

Check your cleaning programme against the limits of the hose. DELFOOD MILK 10 SD and DELFOOD MILK 10 D allow steam sterilization at up to 110 °C for max. 30 minutes; for DELFOOD TANKER 10 SD and DELFOOD MILK 10 SD LITE the limit is also 110 °C for max. 30 minutes. For cleaning, tell us the agents, their concentration and temperature before ordering.

Milk powder

For milk powder and other dry dairy products, tell us the product, how it is conveyed and its temperature — we will select the hose.

Couplings
