Tank truck hoses and couplings: what the line is made of

A tank truck delivers diesel and other mineral oil products through a hose line: the hose itself, couplings on the hose ends and tank couplings that connect the line to the truck and to the receiving tank. All parts have to match in size, and the line has to stay antistatic from end to end. Here is what it is made of.

The hose

For road tankers and fuel distribution: DELOIL 16 SD for suction and delivery and DELOIL 16 D for delivery — fuels and petroleum products with up to 50% aromatics, working pressure 16 bar, −30…+70 °C, ID 19–152 mm; flame resistant antistatic cover and two crossed copper wires for grounding. DELOIL TANKER 10 SD LITE is a very light and flexible, abrasion resistant suction and delivery hose for road tankers: antistatic inner tube, copper wire for grounding, 10 bar, −30…+80 °C, ID 51–102 mm.

DELOIL 10 SD is a suction and delivery hose for fuels and petroleum products with up to 50% aromatics. It has a steel helix and is vacuum resistant; the cover is antistatic, and a copper wire serves for grounding. Working pressure 10 bar, −30…+80 °C, ID 19–254 mm.

For work in extreme cold there is DELOIL ARCTIC −55 °C, a tank truck hose that retains flexibility at low temperature: −55…+90 °C, ID 51–102 mm; its data give no electrical properties, so ask us about grounding the line.

Tank couplings MK/VK

The MK coupling with handle is the female half, the VK adapter is the male half; each has a thread on the other side. When the line is disconnected, MB caps close MK couplings and VB caps close VK adapters. For sizes 50–80 mm there are also MKV inserts with thread and NBR seal and MKH rings with hand clamp for them. MK/VK parts are available in stainless steel and brass, ID 50–100 mm.

Hose couplings

On the hose ends, the line is built with hose couplings:

• MEKA hose coupling — thread × smooth tail with safety sleeve, stainless steel or brass, ID 13–100 mm;
• MEKA GU — union nut × smooth tail with safety sleeve, stainless steel or brass, ID 13–100 mm;
• MEKA RIB — thread × barbed hose tail, brass, ID 25–100 mm.

KS safety clamps DIN 2817 are two-piece clamps with four bolts, in aluminium (ID 13–200 mm) and stainless steel 316 (ID 13–100 mm).

Camlock couplings

Our catalogue also includes Camlock couplings: types A–F, dust caps DC and dust plugs DP, in stainless steel, aluminium, brass and polypropylene, ID 13–203 mm.

Assembly and testing

The parts of the line have to match in size and thread. We put together the complete assembly — hose, hose couplings and tank couplings — and test it: a pressure test and a check of electrical continuity, so that the grounding wire is connected through the couplings at both ends.
